Court Appointed Special Advocates, a program of Family & Youth, are volunteers who speak in court for a child’s best interest. Judges appoint a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer to an abused or neglected child who has been removed from his or her home. The CASA volunteer helps to ensure that the child receives appropriate care, whether from a foster home or relative’s home while he or she is in the court system. Volunteers are trained and supported by CASA staff at Family & Youth.
Some of the services CASA provides are case management, volunteer training, child abuse education and awareness, court support, services coordination and consultation.
Family & Youth has a long history of developing specialized programs to meet the community’s needs. It strives to be abreast of changing dynamics in the community to be able to address important issues.
