Partnerships and Philanthropy Partnerships with corporations, foundations, and individual donors are of paramount importance to building mission driven philanthropy in Southwest Louisiana. Robert L. Payton, first director of the Center of Philanthropy at Indiana University defines philanthropy as a “voluntary action for the common good.” Nonprofit organizations exist to carry out complex service missions to help people live full and healthy lives in order to thrive and be successful. Your generosity when combined with effective nonprofit work creates a powerful formula for success and serves as a valuable investment in the future of our children, families and community. The Family Foundation of Southwest Louisiana facilitates three initiatives: Nonprofit Sector Development. The foundation believes in promoting excellence in the nonprofit sector through training, education and leadership development in partnership with Entergy Foundation, the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations and United Way of Southwest Louisiana. Mission Based Advocacy. The foundation seeks to strengthen the capacity of people to engage in effective advocacy to affect public policy on behalf of children and families in partnership with the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation and the Twenty-First Century Foundation. Philanthropy. The foundation recognizes the value of giving time, talent and treasure and celebrates individuals and their spirit of giving. In addition, the Foundation connects philanthropic efforts to priorities that enhance quality of life, in partnership with L’Auberge du Lac. Finally, thanks to your giving and the expert advice of our trustees we continue to grow the endowment to support the efforts of Family & Youth, a family service organization (www.fyca.org). Thank you for your generosity. Vickie Wicks, Chair Julio Galan, CEO
