Sustenance

Sustenance: Food, water and personal care items must be available to support and address both the short-term and long-term needs of affected individuals and families.

Current Status: 

Hot Meals:

Abraham’s Tent serves lunch.  2300 Fruge St, 11:30 to 12:30.  Call 439-9330.

Calcasieu Council on Aging is providing Meals on Wheels for elderly residents.  Call 474-2583.

 

Food Baskets, etc.

The Salvation Army has food boxes and other items at the old Kia dealership on Prien Lake Road.  You must have an appointment.  Call 721-8068.

The ESSA Food Pantry is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:00-3:00, located in Abraham’s Tent.  Food and clothing are available.  Call 439-9330.

Adventist Response Relief is distributing food, baby supplies, and other household items 9 to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1537 Country Club Road.  Call 433-8142.

First Christian Church 2525 Second Avenue, has distributions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. 

In Cameron Parish:

Grand Lake Community Center, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily.

The Hackberry Community Center, daylight to dusk, daily.

 

 

Food Stamp questions can be answered by going to the temporary office at the Old Trinity Baptist Church, 1701 Ryan, 8:00 - 4:30 on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, and 7:00 -5:30 Tuesday and Thursday, or by calling 491-2211
