In today’s world, young people are able to choose from many varied career paths. What decisions will you need to make to achieve your goals? The goal of establishing a Youth Action Forum is to engage you and other youth from area high schools in career exploration and civic participation. During the Youth Action Forum sessions, you will explore different career options by meeting professionals in the fields of medicine, law, industry, public relations and media, among others, as well as have the opportunity to learn more about the legislative process.
You and other students will participate in field trips, discussions, and presentations by professionals in several different career areas. You will learn about higher education decisions, the importance of internships, civic participation, and other choices that can help you achieve your goals. The whole experience is culminated in the spring of 2010, when selected participants are invited to Baton Rouge for a day at the Legislature. We will meet with elected officials and tour the Louisiana Senate and House of Representatives.
Track I offers insight to careers that require a bachelor's degree and beyond, and Track II offers insight into two year technical college programs as well as other certifications and licensing career opportunities. Students may choose to participate in either program. Mandatory Parent Orientation October 12, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. @ The Leadership Center for Youth 2517 Ryan Street.
