Mission
It is the belief of Family & Youth that all individuals possess the ability to solve their own challenges and live full healthy lives when support is available. It is the mission of Family & Youth to provide affordable and professional support through programs and services dedicated to advocacy, counseling, and education for the people of Southwest Louisiana. Our effort and commitment to building family values will guarantee a stable and stronger community.

Governor's Safe & Drug Free Grant

Thanks to continued funding from the Governor’s Safe and Drug Free grant, The Leadership Center for Youth (TLC) is able to assist youth in our local community through a very special program called Positive Action.

TLC offers youth a program based on the intuitive philosophy that you feel good about yourself when you do positive actions, and there is always a positive way to do everything. The focus of the Positive Action program emphasizes that

• positive thoughts lead to positive actions;

• positive actions lead to positive feelings about yourself;

• and positive feelings lead to more positive thoughts.

This continuing circle of “positives” is also applied to life. Leadership Center staff members teach positive action lessons and also reinforce the ideas during other activities at the center on a daily basis. The overall goal is to improve teens’ self concept, their physical and intellectual health, social and emotional responsibility, social skills and character, as well as their ability in setting and achieving goals.

We are grateful for the support we receive from the Governor’s Safe and Drug Free grant in order to provide such a worthwhile program. The kids love it and we feel positive about that!
