Making an Impact

National acknowledgement of the work of our professional staff at Family & Youth has been welcomed during the first quarter of2011. First, let me tell you about the Alliance for Children and Families. The Alliance is a membership association that is motivated by a vision of a healthy society and strong communities for all children and families. The Alliance works to strengthen North America’s nonprofit human services sector and, through advocacy, assure the sector’s continued independence. Recently, the Alliance published an article highlighting the work of Family & Youth, work that can be used as an example for replication across the country. We are proud of the accomplishment. Families today face more challenges than every before. The economy, babies having babies, special needs children, single parents with no support, mental illness, substance abuse and domestic violence are all risk indicators for potential child abuse. In light of the sometimes overwhelming issues facing families today, many people ask what they can do to prevent child abuse.
