Keynote Speaker:
Barry L. Duncan, Psy.D.

Director, The Heart and Soul of Change

We are pleased to present Dr. Barry Duncan, Director of the Heart and Soul Project, as luncheon keynote speaker on February 11, 2010.

Therapist, trainer, and researcher with over 17,000 hours of clinical experience and over 100 publications, Duncan has received numerous awards for his contributions to the mental health field. Two such awards include Menninger Foundation's 15th Annual Award for Scientific Writing for the best-selling The Heart and Soul of Change, as well as Psychotherapy Networker "20th Anniversary All Time Top Ten Award" for Duncan's article "Exposing the Mythmakers," recognized as one of the most influential features in the magazine's history. His newest book, On Becoming a Better Therapist, is due for release in March 2010.

Because of his books, Duncan has appeared on "Oprah," "The View," and several other national TV programs and has been featured in Psychology Today and USA Today.

Due to his extensive clinical experience and scientific research, Duncan conducts seminars internationally in client-directed, outcome-informed therapies, in hopes of inciting insurrection against practices that diminish clients. Duncan warns, "Despite the overall effectiveness of psychosocial services, drop outs are a substantial problem, many clients do not benefit, and providers vary greatly in effectiveness." Duncan promotes 'practice based evidence' as the real solution to these problems.
