Connections Count! Professional Development Conference
Feb. 16 & 17, 2012 at L'Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles
Join professionals and practitioners from the four corners of Louisiana and beyond as we connect to expand, enhance, and share our knowledge and expertise for the benefit of children, youth, and families in our collective communities. Connections do count, so please be a part of our 14th annual conference and make your voice count, too!
Conference Tracks
Workshops covering four general themes are divided into tracks. Participants are welcome to attend workshops of their choosing. Tracks are:

Track 3—Advocacy & Forensic Practice
Track 4—High Impact Engagement
L’Auberge Casino Resort
L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles is the site of the conference. A block of overnight rooms is available for Wednesday, Feb. 15, and Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at a reduced rate of $99. Directions from West of Lake Charles: I-10 East. Merge right onto the I-210 Loop at Exit #25. Go over the I-210 E bridge. Take the Nelson Road Exit #4. Remain in the far left lane and continue following the signs to CASINO AREA. The exit will veer left and cross under the I-210 Bypass. Proceed to the far right lane following the CASINO AREA sign.
Directions from East of Lake Charles: Take I-10 West to Lake Charles. Merge onto the I-210 Loop. Take Exit #4 at Nelson Road. Turn right onto Nelson Road and follow the signs into L’Auberge Casino Resort.
Registration Fee
Thanks to our sponsors, registration fee is $200. Fee covers two lunches, snacks during breaks, workshops, and CEUs for qualifying participants. Early bird registration ends on Feb. 2, 2012, at 5 p.m.
Limited number of partial scholarships are available for Children’s Advocacy Center Team Members, CASA volunteers, school counselors, teachers and childcare staff. Please e-mail Roxanne at roxanne@fyca.org or call 337-436-9533 to apply for a scholarship before submitting your registration form.
Discount of 10% will be given to United Way agency staff members, Alliance for Children and Families members, Children and Families Action Network (Join CFAN today! It's free!) members, Kids Can of SWLA members, and full-time university students.
Continuing Education Units
Continuing Education Units for Licensed Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists are available. Participants please refer to our website, www.fyca.org, for updates on the number of CEUs offered at the conference. Family & Youth is approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) to offer continuing education for licensed counselors. We adhere to NBCC continuing education guidelines. CEU certificates will be mailed to participants who submit appropriate documentation.
Certificates of Attendance
Certificates of attendance for all participants will be available at the conclusion of the conference.
Philanthropy Celebration and Awards Reception
Join us for a Philanthropy Celebration and Awards Reception on Feb. 16, 2012, at 5:30 p.m., at L’Auberge Casino Resort Business Center. Family Foundation of Southwest Louisiana will celebrate local philanthropists who give their time, talent, and treasure to promote the well-being of others and the betterment of Southwest Louisiana. Help us offer a collective, heartfelt thank you to several philanthropists in our community. This event is part of a national celebration that recognizes the profound impact of philanthropy on the fabric of society.
