In today’s world, young people can choose from many different career paths, but what steps do they need to take to achieve their goals? Career Exploration helps young people understand their career options in the fields of social services, medicine, criminal justice & law, industry, public relations, marketing, business management, entrepreneurship, and many more!

Session 1: Criminal Justice and Law

Students toured the courthouse and judges chambers and learned about career opportunities in the legal system including educational requirements of each. Students also had the opprotunity to speak with a panel of both practicing and non-practicing law professionals.

Session 2: Hospitality and Guest Services

Students toured local facilities and learned about careers in guest services, public relations, and human resources. Students also had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with professionals about career opportunites and educational requirements in each department.

Session 3: Law Enfocement, Investigations, and Forensics

Students learned about different career opportunities within local law enforcement agencies. They toured facilities such as the forensic lab and sheriff’s office. Students also had the opportunity to explore the specialized equipment used to run each department, including police polygraph, mobile units and emergency communications center.

Session 4: Business Management and Finance

Students learned how to plan for and open a new business by touring a local small business, and receiving tips and lessons from a local entrepreneur. Students also had the opportunity to learn about the financial industry including commercial/business/private banking, bank operations and customer service.

Session 5: Communications, Mass Media and Broadcasting

Students toured media facilities to learn about media relations, journalism and broadcasting; where they spoke with professionals including reporters, journalists and news anchors. Students also had   the opportunity to explore information technology careers involving telecommunications, system networks, computer repair, and network security.

Session 6: Medical Practice

Students toured local medical facilities to learn about career opportunities within the medical field. Students also spoke  one-on-one with medical professionals to learn about the career opportunities and educational requirements in each department.
