Coordinating Services for Sexually and Severely Abused Children

Annually, the Children’s Advocacy Center conducts forensic interviews of more than 500 children alleged to have been sexually or severely physically abused.

The Children’s Advocacy Center, a division of Family & Youth, is a child-friendly facility designed to coordinate services for children who have been reported as sexually or severely physically abused. Designed and managed to reduce the effects of trauma, the Center’s comfortable environment and well-trained staff work together with area prosecutors, law enforcement agents, social service workers, therapists, victim advocates and medical professionals to investigate child abuse allegations and reduce the number of investigative interviews typically experienced by victims.

Some services offered by Children’s Advocacy Center are forensic practice, multidisciplinary team management, child abuse education & awareness, specialized crisis intervention, trauma reduction, and referral and information services.
